Get up and go! - Solidarity Pilgrimage
People are walking all over the world to draw attention to the importance of the negotiations to address Climate Change in Paris in late November – early December 2015.
Many of those journeying are pilgrims from different faith traditions who are walking from their home countries to the French capital to highlight Climate Justice – in reality the most vulnerable communities and countries are those who contribute least to greenhouse gas emissions. Those making a pilgrimage for justice and peace include about 30 children, women and men who will set out from St. Martin-in-the-Fields church in London on 13th November and arrive in Paris ten days later.
In Devon, there will be a local solidarity pilgrimage from Exeter to Dawlish on Saturday 5th December, beginning at South Street Baptist church at 10.00a.m. People of goodwill – of any faith or none – are welcome to join in on foot [or bicycle] at any point, with a proposed return to the city by train mid-afternoon.
We will use the themes of sustainability and vulnerability to reflect on as we travel.
If you hope to participate please let us know so we can plan for numbers*. You will need to bring suitable clothing and footwear, food and drink.
Don’t stay home – let’s get going!
All best wishes
